    Rain Pryor was born in Los Angeles, California, to actress Shelley Bonus and comedian Richard Pryor.

    Her mother was a Jewish dancer, while her paternal grandparents raised Rain, exposing her to both Jewish and Black cultures. Pryor's interracial background led to her feeling both pride and guilt growing up.

    Education and Early Career

    In 1987, Pryor graduated from Beverly Hills High School.
